Brady Throws 600th Career Touchdown

Last Sunday, in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers rolled the Chicago Bears 38-3, and improved their record to 6-1. The Bucs have been having a great start to their season, with some impressive wins and their only loss coming to a very strong Los Angeles Rams team. Tom Brady has definitely made his impact on the Buccaneers, already winning them their second Super Bowl in franchise history last season, in only his first season with the team. Already this season with the Bucs, Brady has made history in the recordbooks with two incredible passing records. In week four, the Buccaneers traveled to Brady’s home for his first twenty years in the NFL, New England. Going into the game against the Patriots, Brady needed only 68 passing yards to surpass Drew Brees’ all time career passing yards record of 80,358 yards. It didn’t take long for Brady to set the record, as he completed a 28 yard pass to Mike Evans in the first quarter. The Buccaneers would also end up beating the Patriots in what could have been Brady’s final game in New England. Brady also joined a group of only three other quarterbacks, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Brett Favre as the only quarterbacks that have beaten every team in the NFL. It was quite the historic night for Tom Brady in his homecoming game against the Patriots.

Brady’s history making season was not going to end there. Going into week seven, the Buccaneers hosted the Bears and Brady was just two touchdowns away from being the first player ever to throw for 600 total touchdowns in a career. On his third drive of the game, Brady again found Mike Evans for a 9 yard touchdown pass for his 600th career touchdown pass. Evans, who was on the receiving end of both of Brady’s records so far this year, did not realize that his touchdown catch was Brady’s 600th, so he found a fan in the stands with a Mike Evans jersey on and handed him the ball. Now, this is a fairly normal thing to do on a normal touchdown, not so normal on a record setting touchdown. Brady, for good reason, wanted to keep the ball, since it was such a large milestone in his career. The lucky fan that was handed the ball got a haul in return for giving the ball back. The fan will receive two signed jerseys and a signed helmet from Tom Brady, a signed jersey and game cleats from Mike Evans, $1000 credit to the Buccaneers team store, two season tickets for the rest of this season and next season and one Bitcoin from Tom Brady, about $62,000. Quite the story for this fan and quite the historic stat for Tom Brady.

Brady has already had so much success in the NFL, winning seven Super Bowls. A lot of sports fans think that Brady may be the greatest football player ever or even the greatest athlete ever. Breaking records like these definitely adds to his already very impressive resume. The Buccaneers are poised for another great season and another run at a Super Bowl. There is absolutely some credit to be given to Brady for him to be able to go to a different team and still continue his success. There are a lot of great teams in the NFC this season, the Cardinals are undefeated, the Rams have already beaten the Bucs once, but will they have what it takes to take down Brady and the Buccaneers come playoff time? Who knows what kind of records Brady may set by the time the playoffs roll around. A couple that are already on the watch list for Brady is the career record for completion, he needs 245, and the career number of games with three or more passing touchdowns, he needs 3. It will be very fun to see if Brady will break these records in a season where he has set a couple of impressive records already.
