OHS Weekly Sports Recap

To conclude the high school football season, the JV team traveled to El-Paso Gridley Monday night. This was a Varsity preview game for next year for both schools. The Spartans finished strong with a 50-8 win. Good job to all the players, coaches, and fans. The loyal support of our football teams does not go unnoticed.

Olympia High School also hosted the IHSA volleyball regional series this week. Our Olympia Spartans faced their conference rival, the Central Catholic Saints, in the first round. With intense rallies, the Spartans lost in just 2 sets. In the end, the Spartan players enjoyed playing their last volleyball game on their home court with the Blue Crew cheering them on. To follow, PBL played GCMS, with a win from PBL. Central Catholic was back the next night to play Illinois Valley Central and PBL played Tremont. Both of these matches were completed in 2 sets each with a win from Illinois Valley Central and Tremont. Illinois Valley Central then was able to overcome Tremont on Thursday night, walking home with the regional championship title and plaque. They will now face Kankakee on November 1st for the sectional semi-finals.

Tuesday was a big night for the girls’ swim team. They had their last home meet against Jacksonville Routt and Clinton partnered with Senior Night.
