Allin Twp. Fire Dept. Awarded Grant

Just recently the Allin Township Fire Department was awarded a $23,000 grant from Firehouse Subs. Every year Firehouse Subs has a grant program that many stations can apply for, so it came as a surprise to the Department that they were chosen to be awarded this grant. For small-town departments getting grants like these really help them and the community out as their budgets are smaller meaning they can’t afford some of the more expensive technology and equipment. As Chief Brian Foley stated in my interview with him, “The grants really help us to be able to get things we normally couldn’t have.”

Throughout the years the Department has received grants including one from Firehouse Subs and multiple other grants from other organizations. The Department is going to put the grant money towards purchasing auto extrication tools that are battery-powered. Tools and equipment like this help the community as the department has more access to better equipment to assist the community when in need.

The Allin Township Fire Department covers the city of Stanford and the township of Allin. The fireside of the department is all volunteers with 18-20 guys in the station. The Department also has a paid ambulance staff that they share with Minier and they work 16-hour days 7 days a week. So, for a small volunteer department like this one, these grants are really special and helpful not only to the Department but to the community as well. Chief Foley and the rest of the department really wanted to express their gratitude towards Firehouse Subs for awarding them this grant and also to the community they serve for allowing them to do what they do.
