McLean and Stanford Respond to Truck Fire

On Sunday, April 24th, at approximately 9:21pm the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove  Fire Department was dispatched to a semi trailer on fire on I-55 mile marker 153. Dale Township Fire Department and Allin Township Fire Department were dispatched as well. Dale Chief 1400 arrived on scene and reported the entire trailer was fully involved and not much left of the trailer. Engine 151 arrived to extinguish the fire with the other departments arriving shortly after.

There were no injuries to report. The semi tractor was able to release from the trailer.

After the crews got the fire under control, they realized what a tragic loss they were facing. The semi that caught fire was hauling beef brisket, ham, bacon and possibly a few other items. This is not the type of cookout any fire department likes to get invited too.

The fire crews also want to remind everyone that when you see Fire-EMS, Police, Tow and/or disabled vehicles with hazards flashing, please slow down and move over. There several vehicles pasing through the one lane incident well over 60mph.

To receive alerts of Fire-EMS responding to or at an incident while you are driving, you can use Waze to get those alerts. Some vehicle manufactures now have the alerts available using their own platform. Local emergency vehicles are equipped with HAAS Alert devices that send that signal to Waze.
