RAVING REVIEW: Let me be honest, I was never a huge Dolly Parton fan, but my mom and sister are. That was enough to intrigue me and make me want to watch SERIOUSLY RED, a film that pays homage to the legendary Dolly Parton. The story revolves around Raylene, a young woman who is determined to become the world's best Dolly Parton impersonator. Raylene embarks on a journey of self-discovery as she struggles to find her true identity. Her journey is guided by Dolly's famous quotes and her soulful music.

The film's visual style is striking, with a vibrant color palette and intricate costumes that reflect Raylene's evolving impersonation of Dolly Parton. The film's talented cast, which includes Thomas Campbell, Jean Kittson, Celeste Barber, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, and Daniel Webber, brings to life a cast of fascinating characters that orbit around Raylene, each adding their unique touch to the story.

At its core, SERIOUSLY RED is a triumph of individuality and authenticity, as Raylene discovers that happiness comes from embracing one's true self. The film is a warm and joyful journey of self-discovery, with a message that speaks to the universal human experience of striving for our dreams while not losing sight of the things that truly matter.

I genuinely appreciate it more than I usually would have because I screened Dolly’s 2022 Christmas Special MOUNTAIN MAGIC CHRISTMAS late last year. It gave me a fresh take on an incredible human being. From a critical perspective, the film's music serves as a solid narrative thread, with licensed tracks and a powerful score that add depth and emotion to the story.

In conclusion, SERIOUSLY RED is a must-see for all of those who appreciate the timeless appeal of Dolly Parton. The film was a heartfelt, funny, sad, and genuine experience all rolled into one. Keep in mind that this is an R-rated film and, being such, has some reason to take caution with who watches.
